CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

  • First-Team AP All-Pro: 2024
  • NFC Defensive Player of the Week: 2022 (Week 9)
  • Became the NFL's first safety to record at least four interceptions in each of the first three seasons of a player's career since S Ed Reed in 2002-04.
  • His 17 interceptions through the first three seasons of his career are the most by any Lions player through three-career seasons since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger.
  • Became the first Lions safety to produce a season with at least nine interceptions and a pick six since Jack Christiansen in 1957.
  • Became the first Lions player to record an interception in seven of the first 10 games of a season since Bob Smith in 1949. The last safety in the NFL to do so was Oilers S Mike Reinfeldt in 1979.
  • Joins S Justin Simmons as the only two NFL players to record at least eight interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery over the 2022-23 seasons.
  • In the 2022 season, he registered 74 total tackles (53 solo), eight pass defenses, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a quarterback hit.
  • Since at least 1999, he was only the third NFL rookie to produce at least four interceptions, two forced fumbles and log a fumble recovery.
  • Became the NFL's first rookie safety to produce a season with four interceptions and two forced fumbles since 2007.
  • His eight pass defenses tie for the third-most by a Lions rookie since at least 1999.
  • Logged a two-interception game vs. Green Bay (11/6/22), becoming the first rookie safety in team history with a two-interception game since 1986. Along with another interception off Packers QB Aaron Rodgers in Week 18, he became the first player in NFL history to record three interceptions from Rodgers in a regular-season career.
  • Forced a turnover in three-straight games over Weeks 7-9 of the 2022 season. With a forced fumble in Week 7 and then again in Week 8, he became the first rookie defensive back in franchise history to force a fumble in consecutive games.

COLLEGE

  • Played four seasons (2018-21) at Illinois, combining for 116 total tackles, six pass defenses, five interceptions, 1.0 sack and one forced fumble in his NCAA career.
  • 2021: Logged 57 total tackles, five interceptions, two fumble recoveries and 1.0 sack.
    • First-Team All-Big Ten
    • Became only the fifth Illini safety in the last 50 seasons to earn First-Team All-Big Ten honors, and the first to do so since 1989.
    • Tied for fifth in the NCAA with five interceptions.
    • Earned a 90.4 overall PFF grade, the highest grade by any FBS defensive back that season.
  • 2020: Played in 12 games and registered 19 total tackles on the season.
  • 2019: Appeared in 12 games (two starts) and tallied 30 tackles and three pass defenses.
  • 2018: Played in 10 games and had 10 total tackles, one pass defense and one forced fumble.

PERSONAL

  • Majored in community health at Illinois.
  • Attended and played at Jones High School in Orlando, Fla., where he also ran track and played volleyball. He was his volleyball team's MVP.
