What are the Buffalo Bills talking about ahead of Sunday's interconference matchup in Detroit against the Lions? Let's find out:
1. A conglomeration of failures. That's how Buffalo defensive coordinator Bobby Babich described his defense's effort in a loss to the Los Angeles Rams last week where the Rams scored 44 points and were 11-of-15 on third down and 5-for-6 in the red zone.
"The recipe to lose a football game is what we did (Sunday)," he said. "Failure is the best teacher. Success, at times, is an awful teacher."
He expects his defense to respond accordingly this week against the Lions' No. 1 scoring offense.

2. Bills head coach Sean McDermott was asked about the play of Lions quarterback Jared Goff and McDermott said the biggest thing he sees in Goff's game is a player who is really in sync with offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
McDermott said Detroit is very creative in how they scheme things offensively and it's a credit to Johnson and head coach Dan Campbell with how they've brought in and developed their players on offense.
3. McDermott said one of the more impressive things about Detroit's offense is their play-action pass game and screen game.
"They do a great job protecting (Goff) in those two capacities," he said.
4. Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady was asked about Campbell's comments about Josh Allen being a more patient player from his observation of Allen's play this season from afar. The reporter asked Brady how spot on Campbell's comment was.
"Usually Dan's dead on," Brady said with a smile. "I shared a room with Dan for one year in New Orleans. Dan is as good as it gets. He sees football in an incredible way. The way that you kind of see Josh playing and understanding, there's a lot of plays he made out there (Sunday) that not a lot of people on the planet can make, right? I think his confidence and trust in the 10 other guys around him and the confidence in the mastery of the system is allowing him to play with that patience."
5. The Lions have the best running back duo in the NFL in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. The two rank in the top 10 in rushing touchdowns this season with Montgomery having 12 and Gibbs 10. They've combined for 24 total touchdowns on the season with Gibbs' two receiving touchdowns. Babich says it comes down to the fundamentals for his defense trying to stop Detroit's two-headed monster at running back.
"We just got to get back to our basics, back to our fundamentals and what our jobs are within each defense," he said. "There's a lot of good running backs in this league. I know these two that we're about to go against, I think a lot of people consider them as the best duo in the league, they're certainly going to be a challenge. But I think our guys are up to the challenge, I believe they're up to the challenge and they're ready to respond."
6. Like he mentioned above, Brady was with Campbell and Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn in New Orleans as an offensive assistant and said he's not surprised at all by the success they're having.
"He's as real as it gets," Brady said of Campbell. "Everything you see from him is authentic. I learned so much from being with him for a year. I was with him for two years but sat in the room with him with the tight ends for one year and he's an incredible coach and incredible teacher. No shock in the world to see the success he's had there."
He also said the Lions have a great defense and he is looking forward to the test his offense faces in what he expects will be a difficult environment at Ford Field.
7. Week 14's game against the Rams marked Buffalo's first game all season not forcing a turnover. So far this season, the Bills have 24 takeaways, which ties for the third most in the league. Babich said the defense needs to get back to the basics and remember who they are as a defense and get back to making those game-changing plays. The Lions have the sixth fewest giveaways on the year with 12.
