KEY QUESTIONS: What stood out to Campbell after watching tape of last week's win?

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell spoke to the media Monday as the Lions get ready to host the Buffalo Bills at Ford Field Sunday afternoon in a nationally televised CBS contest.

Here are all the key questions from Campbell's Monday presser:

What stood out to Campbell after watching the Packers film?

Campbell spent a few minutes going back over the Packers game and highlighting what he thought his team did well and didn't do well in the 34-31 win that pushed their win streak to 11 games and their record to 12-1 on the season.

Offense: He thought that side of the football was good situationally at the end of both halves and in the red zone. He also thought they had a good short-yardage plan. Campbell wasn't as happy with the run game overall and the lack of explosive plays. He highlighted the play of wide receiver Tim Patrick, quarterback Jared Goff, tight end Sam LaPorta and left tackle Dan Skipper.

Defense: Campbell really liked the way they played hard and finished. He highlighted their third-down play and the Packers being 1-for-5 on third down. He also liked the sticky coverage. He thought they could have been better in their defensive run game efficiency and their red-zone defense. He highlighted the play of defensive tackle Pat O'Connor, edge rusher Za'Darius Smith, linebacker Ezekiel Turner and cornerback Terrion Arnold.

Special teams: He was really happy with the field goal protection seeing how Green Bay had come in with some blocks. He highlighted the play of gunner Khalil Dorsey.

What kind of challenge do the Lions have Sunday trying to contain Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen?

Allen is one of the favorites to win the MVP after throwing for 342 yards and rushing for 82 yards with six total touchdowns in a high-scoring 44-42 loss to the Los Angeles Rams Sunday.

The one thing that jumped out to Campbell about Allen's play this year is that he only has five interceptions. Allen's had double-digit interceptions in each of his last four regular seasons.

"He's taking care of the football. He's taking the plays that are there," Campbell said. "Once it progresses and it's not (there), he uses his legs. I see a more patient player out of him that is playing at a very high level and that makes him even more dangerous."

Campbell said defending Allen this week is going to be a huge task for his defense.

Could the Lions get some injured players back this week?

Campbell was feeling more optimistic he could get some injured players back this week but said he wouldn't know any specifics until probably Thursday at the earliest.

"We are better than what we were last week," he said.

Defensive tackle Alim McNeill is still in concussion protocol and has to navigate through those return-to-play protocols this week to be ready for Sunday. Campbell said he was feeling better about left tackle Taylor Decker returning, but wanted to see him practice first. He also said there's a chance defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike is back this week.

Any updates on players on injured reserve?

Cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and safety Ifeatu Melifonwu will be eligible to start their practice windows next week. Campbell said he and GM Brad Holmes will have conversations about those two closer to those start dates.

He still thinks linebacker Alex Anzalone (forearm) and wide receiver Kalif Raymond (foot) have a chance to return for the last game of the regular season and the playoffs.

Campbell didn't have an update on defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson but said if anyone could return late in the playoffs from that injury, it would be him.

What are the expectations for the defense this week?

Buffalo is the No. 2 scoring offense in football right behind Detroit, but Campbell expects his defense to play better this week. We talked about some of the players they could be getting back on that side of the football above. Campbell also said players like Jamal Adams, Kwon Alexander, Myles Adams and Jonah Williams will be much more comfortable with a game and another week of practice under their belt and he thinks that will show up Sunday vs. Buffalo.

What does Campbell think of the play of rookie Terrion Arnold?

He thought Arnold played the best game of his young career last week against the Packers. A lot of rookies around this time of year start to hit the rookie wall and their play levels down, not up. Campbell isn't seeing that with Arnold.

He mentioned players like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Penei Sewell and McNeill, who were rookies here that elevated their play at the end of their rookie seasons in November and December.

"I feel like that's where Arnold is at," Campbell said. "He's gaining enough valuable reps and experience and he's not letting the grind of the season weigh him down. He's getting better."

That's pretty high praise from Campbell for a rookie in Arnold, who has played a key role on defense all season long with some ups and downs along the way.
