Division games always mean a little more on the schedule but Sunday's matchup in Minnesota against the undefeated Vikings (5-0) has an even bigger feel to it with early control of the NFC North on the line.
The NFC North is the best division in football this season. Minnesota leads the division at 5-0, Detroit is right behind at 4-1 and the Packers and Bears are both 4-2. The North is the first division since realignment in 2002 to have all four teams with at least four wins through six games.
Let's take a look at three statistics for each of the four teams in the NFC North that help explain their early success:
MINNESOTA
Record: 5-0
Last week: Bye
Up next: vs. Detroit (4-1)
3 stats:
1. The Vikings' defense has blitzed 106 times in five contests or 41.1 percent of their defensive snaps, the most in the NFL this season. To put that number in a little bit of perspective: Denver is No. 2 on the list, and they've blitzed 75 times in six games. Minnesota's 84 pressures lead the NFL, and they are third in sacks (20).
2. The Vikings' defense certainly makes opponents earn their points. Minnesota has allowed a remarkable three points outside the red zone this season. One field goal - that's it. The next best on that list are Green Bay and Pittsburgh who have allowed 17. Detroit's allowed 29.
3. Sam Darnold is a veteran quarterback with a big arm and Kevin O'Connell's offense seems like a great fit for him with the weapons he has at the skill positions. The deep ball is a big threat as Darnold has a 112.3 rating on passes that travel at least 21 yards in the air — 9-for-18 for 320 yards with three touchdowns and just one interception.

DETROIT
Record: 4-1
Last week: Detroit 47, Dallas 9
Up next: at Minnesota (5-0)
3 stats:
1. Quarterback Jared Goff is playing some of the best football of his career over the last three weeks as he's completed 54-of-66 passes for 806 yards with seven touchdowns and just one interception for a passer rating of 146.59 in wins over Arizona, Seattle and Dallas.
2. The Lions are allowing on average 83.2 rushing yards per game this season. Only Baltimore (59.0) and Minnesota (67.2) have been better. Detroit is so good at making teams one-dimensional against them and their secondary is so improved from last year they are making teams pay to be so one-sided offensively.
3. The Lions are plus-6 in turnover differential through Week 6. Only four teams in the league currently have a better differential. The Lions have forced 10 takeaways with only four giveaways and are the only team in the NFL who has yet to lose a fumble on the season.
GREEN BAY
Record: 4-2
Last week: Green Bay 34, Arizona 13
Up next: vs. Houston (5-1)
3 stats:
1. Green Bay's offense (2,400 yards) has been a juggernaut so far this year led by quarterback Jordan Love, running back Josh Jacobs and a plethora of talented young receivers and tight ends. Only Baltimore (2,722) and San Francisco (2,520) have gained more yards offensively than Green Bay this season. Only Baltimore and Green Bay have over 1,000 rushing yards already this season.
2. The Packers lead the NFL in takeaways with 17. They've forced eight fumbles and nine interceptions this season. The next closest are Chicago (13) and Minnesota (13). The Packers' plus-nine turnover differential leads the NFL.
3. Head coach Matt LaFleur is a really good offensive mind and has the Packers' offense playing nice complementary football to begin the season. Green Bay is good at winning the time of possession with 15 drives this season with at least 10 plays.
CHICAGO
Record: 4-2
Last week: Chicago 35, Jacksonville 16
Up next: Bye
3 stats:
1. The red zone is usually a tough place to operate for young quarterbacks because everything is condensed, there's less room to operate and everything happens a step faster. But rookie quarterback Caleb Williams is excelling in the red zone as the Bears have a touchdown efficiency percentage of 70.6, which is fourth best in the NFL.
2. Chicago's defense has been credited with only 21 missed tackles all season, which is the lowest in the NFL. Missed tackles lead to big plays and the Bears have been really good about making teams earn their points offensively by playing sound defensive football.
3. Chicago has one of the most effective blitzing defenses in the league. When they come after teams via the blitz, opposing quarterbacks have just a 48.3 passer rating with no touchdowns, two interceptions and six sacks. Chicago's blitz percentage (17.7) is one of the lowest in the NFL and their 18 sacks are seventh most. They don't have to blitz to get pressure but when they do, they are very effective with it.
