Lions' 2025 NFL Draft order set

With the NFL awarding 35 compensatory picks to 15 teams, the full seven-round 2025 NFL Draft order is now set.

The Lions were awarded a third-round compensatory selection for Aaron Glenn being hired as the head coach of the New York Jets.

In an effort to promote diversity and inclusion at the highest level, the NFL awards compensatory draft picks to teams that lose minority coaches to head-coaching opportunities with other teams. That team would receive a third-round compensatory pick for the next two years. The picks are at the end of the third round, after other compensatory choices are awarded and come in consecutive years.

With the addition of a third-round compensatory pick, the Lions currently own seven picks in this year's draft.

"Yeah, I just think that we just stay the course and just keep building like we've been," Lions general manager Brad Holmes said after the season. "I do think that we're very close. Obviously, I thought that we were very close this year, but nothing is going to alter what our approach has been in terms of trying to continue to improve and keep building.

"Obviously, I do think that we are very close, obviously felt really good about this season, but fell short. We're going to stay committed and stay committed to the process."

That process has been building one of the league's top young rosters through the draft first and foremost.

This is expected to be a strong class along the trenches on both sides of the ball, two areas the Lions could look to bolster come draft time.

Here are Detroit's current picks in the 2025 NFL Draft:

  • Round 1, Pick 28
  • Round 2, Pick 28 (60th overall)
  • Round 3, Pick 38 (No. 102)
  • Round 4, Pick 28 (No. 130)
  • Round 6, Pick 20 (No. 196) from Buccaneers
  • Round 7, Pick 12 (No. 228) from Cowboys
  • Round 7, Pick 28 (No. 244)

The NFL Draft will be held April 24-26 in Green Bay.
