Gina Newell enters her third season as Senior Director, Football Operations after previously serving as the team's director of team operations (2019-21). In her current role, Newell oversees the video and equipment departments, and leads all aspects of team travel, including the planning, lodging and transportation needs of the organization.

Gina Newell enters her third season as Senior Director, Football Operations after previously serving as the team's director of team operations (2019-21). In her current role, Newell oversees the video and equipment departments, and leads all aspects of team travel, including the planning, lodging and transportation needs of the organization.

Prior to becoming the team's director of team operations in 2019, she served as the club's director of coaching operations from 2014-18.

Now in her 20th NFL season, Newell's first tenure with the Lions spanned nine seasons (2004-2012) when she served as the coaching staff assistant. In between her stints with the Lions, she was the executive administrative manager to the president of Michigan.com in 2013.

Newell originally joined the Lions after working as the program assistant for the University of Michigan football program in recruiting and operations. In 2001, she assisted in the tennis tournament operations at the IMG tournaments in Miami and New Haven.

Newell earned her bachelor's degree and master's degree, both in sports management, from the University of Michigan. The Jackson, Mich., native graduated from Northwest High School.
