Lions vs. Redskins: Roster Connections

Redskins Offensive Coordinator Kevin O'Connell was on Detroit's roster as a quarterback for a portion of the 2009 season.

Redskins Defensive Backs Coach Ray Horton was the secondary coach for the Lions from 2002-03.

Redskins ILB Jon Bostic spent the entire 2016 season on Injured Reserve with the Lions.

Redskins RB Michael Burton was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the fifth round (168th overall) of 2015 NFL Draft and played in 31 games (seven starts) for the team, scoring one touchdown.

Lions DL Da'Shawn Hand (right) grew up in nearby Woodbridge, Va. and attended Woodbridge H.S. In 2013, Hand's Woodbridge High School squared off against Redskins DL Tim Settle's (left) Stonewall Jackson High School, in which Hand blocked a key punt for a touchdown in Woodbridge's 42-34 win.

Lions S Tavon Wilson grew up in Washington, D.C. and attended Washington Woodson High School.

• Lions CB Michael Jackson faced off against Redskins LB Shaun Dion Hamilton in the Alabama Class 6A State Quarterfinals. Hamilton and Carver High School defeated Jackson's Spain Park High School 26-20.

• Lions LB Devon Kennard (right), Redskins LS Nick Sundberg (left) and Quarterbacks Coach Tim Rattay (middle) are all from Phoenix, Ariz.

Lions QB Jeff Driskel passed for the fourth-most passing yards in a single season in Louisiana Tech school history in 2015 when Redskins Quarterbacks Coach Tim Rattay (not pictured) held the same position with the Bulldogs.

Lions DL Da'Shawn Hand (first row, left), DT A'Shawn Robinson (second row, left), RB Bo Scarbrough (third row, left), Redskins DL Jonathan Allen (first row, middle), LB Ryan Anderson (second row, middle), S Landon Collins (fourth row, left), LB Shaun Dion Hamilton (first row, right), TE Hale Hentges (second row, right), DL Da'Ron Payne (third row, right), C Ross Pierschbacher (fourth row, right) and WR Cam Sims (far right) were all members of the 2015 Alabama team that went on to win the College Football Championship.

Lions TE Jesse James (left) played with Redskins S Troy Apke (top right) at Penn State in 2014 and Lions CB Amani Oruwariye (bottom right) played with Apke from 2015-17 for the Nittany Lions. In 2016, Oruwariye and Apke helped the Nittany Lions to a high of No. 2 in the AP Poll, which was the programs highest ranking since 1997.

Lions LB Christian Jones (right), Redskins K Dustin Hopkins (bottom left) and RB Chris Thompson (top left) were teammates at Florida State from 2010-12. In 2012, the team won 12 games for the first time in program history since 1999.

Lions DT Mike Daniels (left) and Redskins G Brandon Scherff (right) played with one another at Iowa from 2010-11. In 2010, the Hawkeyes opened at No. 9 in the AP Poll which was the highest preseason ranking since 1988 for the program.

Lions QB Jeff Driskel (right), Redskins ILB Jon Bostic (top left) and CB Quinton Dunbar (bottom left) were teammates at Florida from 2011-12. In 2012, Driskel was the leading passer (1,646 yards), Bostic was third on the team in total tackles (68) and Dunbar was first on the team in receiving touchdowns (4).

Lions DB Tracy Walker (right) and Redskins DB Simeon Thomas (left) played five years together at Louisiana-Lafayette from 2013-17. In 2017, Walker led the team in total tackles (97) and Thomas led the team in pass defenses (12). Walker and Thomas are two of six Ragin Cajuns to be drafted since 2010.

Lions Linebackers Coach Al Golden (right) was the head coach at Miami from 2012-14 when Redskins OT Ereck Flowers (left) was a member of the Hurricanes program.

Lions Wide Receivers Coach Robert Prince (right) was the pass game coordinator/wide receivers coach at Colorado in 2010 when Redskins WR Paul Richardson (left) set the freshman school record for receiving yards (514) and receiving touchdowns (6).

Lions Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevell (left) was the quarterback of Wisconsin from 1992-94 when Redskins Interim Head Coach Bill Callahan (right) was the offensive line coach.

Lions Defensive Backs Coach Brian Stewart (right) was the defensive coordinator at Houston in 2010-11 when Redskins QB Case Keenum (left) was the quarterback.

Lions LB Christian Jones (left) and Redskins ILB Jon Bostic (top right) were teammate in Chicago during the 2014 season. Bostic finished second on the team in total tackles (83) while Jones finished fourth as a rookie (69). Lions Defensive Coordinator Paul Pasqualoni (bottom right) was the team's defensive line coach that season, too.

Lions DT Damon Harrison Sr. (middle right), LB Devon Kennard (top right), DE Romeo Okwara (top left), Redskins S Landon Collins (middle left) and OT Ereck Flowers (bottom left) all played for the Giants from 2016-17.

Lions Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevell (right) held the same position in Minnesota when Redskins OT Donald Penn (bottom left; 2006) played for the team and when RB Adrian Peterson (top left) entered the League (2007-10). From 2007-10 Bevell helped Peterson make four Pro Bowls and earn two First Team All-Pro selections in their four seasons together.

Lions Offensive Line Coach Jeff Davidson (left) held the same position in Denver in 2017 when Redskins Offensive Line Coach Phil Rauscher (right) was the assistant to the head coach.

Lions OL Kenny Wiggins (left) and Redskins TE Vernon Davis (right) played with one another in San Francisco from 2012-13. In the two seasons they were together the team went a combined 23-8-1 and made two NFC Conference Championship games.

Lions CB Rashaan Melvin (right) and Redskins OT Donald Penn (left) both played in Tampa together in 2013 during Melvin's rookie season. The two also reunited last season in Oakland under Head Coach Jon Gruden.
