Lions at Broncos: Roster Connections

Broncos Running Backs Coach Curtis Modkins was the • run game coordinator/running backs coach for the Lions from 2013-15.

Lions K Matt Prater spent eight seasons with the Broncos (2007-14) and ranks first in franchise history in field goal percentage (82.9) and third in both points scored (682) and field goals made (141). Prater also set the NFL record for most extra points made in a single-season in 2013 with the Broncos (75). He set the NFL record for longest field goal made vs. Tennessee on Dec. 8, 2013.

Lions Offensive Line Coach Jeff Davidson spent one season with the Broncos in 2017 when he held the same position. Davidson also played for the Broncos from 1990- 92 and helped protect QB John Elway when they made the AFC Championship game in 1991.

Lions QB Kyle Sloter originally joined the Broncos as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2017 and spent the offseason with the team.

Lions CB Amani Oruwariye and Broncos TE Andrew Beck both played high school football in Tampa, Florida. In 2013, • Oruwariye and Gaither High School played against Beck and Plant High School, in which Plant won 41-8.

Lions C/G Graham Glasgow, Broncos TE Troy Fumagalli and DL Jonathan Harris are all from Aurora, Ill.

Broncos Defensive Backs Coach Renaldo Hill is from Detroit, went to Chadsey High School and played three years at Michigan State (1998-2000).

Lions WR Chris Lacy and Broncos LB Justin Hollins played against each other twice in their senior seasons of high school. Lacy's DeSoto High School won both games against Hollins' Martin High School including the Texas 5A D1 Regional Semifinal matchup. Lacy's DeSoto High School is also where Broncos OLB Von Miller attended high school.

Lions CB Jamal Agnew and Broncos WR Tim Patrick both hail from San Diego, Calif. and played against one another in round one of the CIF San Diego 2012 High School Football playoffs. Agnew scored both a rushing and receiving touchdown to lead Point Loma High School to a 42-3 win over Patrick's University City High School.

Lions DE Trey Flowers (2011-14), OL Frank Ragnow (2014- 15) and OL Dan Skipper (2013-15) played with Broncos QB Brandon Allen at Arkansas. In 2011, the team won 11 games for the first time since 1977.

Lions OL Tyrell Crosby, Broncos RB Royce Freeman and LB Justin Hollins were teammates at Oregon from 2014-17. After their four seasons together, Freeman finished as the leading rusher in school history with 5,621 yards.

Lions OL Beau Benzschawel and Broncos TE Troy Fumagalli played at Wisconsin together from 2014-17. In 2017, the team went 13-1, won the Orange Bowl and reached the highest ranking in school history since 1963 (No.3).

Lions CB Amani Oruwariye played collegiately with Broncos WR DaeSean Hamilton at Penn State from 2015- 17.

Lions T Taylor Decker and Broncos TE Jeff Heuerman played at Ohio State together from 2011-14.

Lions CB Justin Coleman (2010-11) and LB Jalen Reeves- Maybin (2013) both played with Broncos T Ja'Wuan James at Tennessee. Coleman and Reeves-Maybin also played with Broncos LB Alexander Johnson with the Volunteers.

Lions LB Christian Jones and Broncos DE DeMarcus Walker played with each other at Florida State in 2013 and won the BCS National Championship.

Lions S Will Harris, Broncos S Justin Simmons and CB • Isaac Yiadom were teammates at Boston College in 2015 together.

Lions DE Romeo Okwara spent two seasons under Broncos Assistant to the Head Coach/Defensive Quality Control Mike Hiestand when he was a defensive graduate assistant at Notre Dame.

Lions TE Logan Thomas (2015-16) and WR Danny Amendola (2018) were teammates with Broncos T Ja'Wuan James when they were in Miami.

Lions TE Jesse James and Broncos OL Patrick Morris played with each other in Pittsburgh during the 2018 season.

Lions OL Oday Aboushi (2015-16) and CB Dee Virgin (2017) both played with Broncos DB Kareem Jackson in Houston.

Lions Defensive Coordinator Paul Pasqualoni coached Broncos Defensive Backs Coach Renaldo Hill when he played for the Dolphins in 2008.

Lions LB Christian Jones played under Broncos Head Coach Vic Fangio from 2015-17 when he was the Bears' defensive coordinator. Jones also played for Broncos Linebackers Coach Reggie Herring (2014) and Outside Linebackers Coach Brandon Staley (2017) when they held the same positions for the Bears.

Lions Defensive Coordinator Paul Pasqualoni and Broncos Linebackers coach Reggie Herring each held the same position in Dallas in 2010 on the defensive staff. Pasqualoni and Herring also worked on the same defensive staff in Chicago in 2014. Lions Defensive Backs Coach Brian Stewart also coached with Herring in Dallas in 2008.

Lions Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevell and Broncos Defensive Coordinator Ed Donatell held the same positions for the Green Bay Packers from 2000-03. Lions Special Teams Coordinator John Bonamego was also on the staff during the 2003 season.

Lions Defensive Backs Coach Brian Stewart was a defensive backs assistant from 2002-03 with the Texans when Broncos Head Coach Vic Fangio was the team's defensive coordinator.
