Lions sign three free agents

Allen Park, Mich. –The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed free agents WR Deontez Alexander, TE Marcus Lucas and CB Josh Okonye.  Contract terms were not disclosed.

The team also announced that they have waived WR Kyle Lewis and waived-injured TE Brandon Barnes.

Alexander joins the Lions after playing two seasons (2016-17) at Franklin College (Ind.). He appeared in 21 career games and finished with 114 receptions for 2,133 yards and 33 touchdowns.

Lucas comes to Detroit after originally entering the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Carolina Panthers in 2014 out of Missouri. He spent last season as a member of both the Oakland Raiders and Indianapolis Colts practice squads.

Okonye enters his rookie season after playing last season at Purdue as a graduate transfer. He spent the previous four seasons (2013-16) at Wake Forest, where he appeared in 37 games and totaled 45 solo tackles and 1.5 sacks.
