Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today that they have signed free agent CB DeShawn Shead.
In addition, the team also announced that they have signed WR Keon Hatcher to the practice squad and released LB Alex Barrett from the practice squad. Additional contract terms were not disclosed.
Shead returns to the Lions after originally signing with the club as an unrestricted free agent during the 2018 offseason. Prior to Detroit, he spent six seasons (2012-17) with the Seattle Seahawks and appeared in two games in 2017.
He originally entered the NFL in 2012 with Seattle as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Portland State. His career totals include 136 total tackles (100 solo), two interceptions, 23 pass defenses and two forced fumbles in 54 career games (22 starts).
Hatcher comes to Detroit after spending a portion of the 2018 season with the Oakland Raiders, where he appeared in his first career game in Week 1 of this season. He originally entered the NFL in 2017 with Oakland as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Arkansas.
