Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today that they have hired Sean Ryan as quarterbacks coach.
Ryan comes to Detroit after spending the previous three seasons (2016-18) with the Houston Texans, including the last two seasons as the team's quarterbacks coach. Prior to Houston, he was a member of the New York Giants coaching staff for nine seasons where he served in various capacities, including offensive quality control (2007-09), wide receivers (2010-11, 2014-15) and quarterbacks coach (2012-13).
Ryan began his coaching career as the quarterbacks coach at Siena College in 1997. His previous coaching stops at the college level include assistant coach positions at Albany (1998-99), Colgate (2000), Boston College (2001-02), Columbia (2003-05) and Harvard (2006).
A native of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Ryan played defensive back and linebacker at Hamilton College. He graduated from Hamilton in 1994 before earning a master's degree in higher education administration from Albany.
