The Detroit Lions will begin their pursuit of the franchise's first Super Bowl Saturday night at 8 p.m. as they'll host the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs.
The No. 6 seed Commanders advanced to the Divisional Round by defeating No. 3 Tampa Bay, 23-20, on the road Sunday night in the Wild Card Round.
Washington finished the regular season 12-5 and second in the NFC East behind Philadelphia. The Lions and Commanders didn't play against each other in the regular season. The two have squared off three times in the playoffs with Washington winning all three.
Washington is led by Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite, quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was the No. 2 overall pick in this year's NFL Draft. He threw two touchdowns in the win Sunday against the Buccaneers to become the first rookie quarterback since Russell Wilson in 2012 to win a playoff game on the road.

During the regular season, Daniels completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,568 yards with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions with a 100.1 passer rating. A dual threat weapon for the Commanders, Daniels also rushed for 891 yards and six touchdowns.
He helped lead Washington to the fifth-best scoring offense (28.1) and No. 7 total offense, averaging 369.6 yards per game, during the regular season. Defensively, Washington ranked 19th in points allowed (22.2) and 13th in total defense (326.9).
The Lions are expected to get running back David Montgomery back for this matchup as Washington will have to contend with the league's No. 1 scoring offense and No. 2 total offense in Detroit this season at home in what will be a loud environment at Ford Field with a trip the NFC Championship Game on the line.
