Allen Park, Mich. – The Detroit Lions announced today that they have been assigned CB Marcus Cooper via waivers from the Chicago Bears. In addition, the Lions announced they have waived S Don Carey.
Currently in his sixth NFL season, Cooper began the 2018 season with the Chicago Bears and appeared in two games. Prior to joining Chicago in 2017, he spent three seasons (2013-15) with the Kansas City Chiefs and one (2016) with the Arizona Cardinals.
A seventh-round (252 overall) selection by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Rutgers, Cooper has appeared in 71 career games (28 starts). His career totals include 145 tackles (136 solo), seven interceptions, 35 pass defenses, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
