Detroit Lions preseason TV broadcast team adds Golden Tate as analyst

DETROIT – The Detroit Lions announced today that they are welcoming Lions Legend WR Golden Tate to the Detroit Lions Preseason TV Broadcast Team as an analyst. Tate will join the crew composed of play-by-play announcer Jason Ross Jr.; sideline reporter Dannie Rogers; producer Bart Fox; and director Bruce Treut.

After an All-American career at Notre Dame, Golden Tate spent 11 years in the NFL, including nearly five years with the Detroit Lions. He came to Detroit after winning Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seattle Seahawks in 2013 and was selected to play in the Pro Bowl in 2014. During his four seasons with the Lions (2014-2017), Tate finished in the top 10 in league receptions, and from 2015-2019, he led the league with 1,003 yards after the catch, earning him the nickname of "YAC King." Golden, his wife Elise and their three children recently moved from San Diego to Nashville, Tennessee.

"When I signed with the Lions 10 years ago, I remember being impressed with the vision of the organization, and now I'm blown away by it," said Tate. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the preseason broadcasts with Jason and Dannie to tell the stories of this Super Bowl-caliber group and share my experiences with the fans."

Alongside Tate is Ross Jr. in his second preseason as a play-by-play announcer and Rogers in her fourth season as the Detroit Lions team reporter. Ross Jr., a Lawrence Technological University graduate, is from Farmington Hills, Mich, and is a play-by-play announcer for the Big Ten Network, ESPN, Fox Sports and Westwood One, as well as one of the voices of the Chicago Sky (Women's National Basketball Association). Rogers is from Monroe, Mich. and attended University of Michigan before working with the University of Arizona football team and CBSN in Toledo, Ohio.

"We're thrilled to welcome Golden Tate to our talented crew," said Detroit Lions Director of Broadcasting Carl Moll. "His impressive experience as a player, combined with his passion for the game, will undoubtedly contribute to creating amazing game broadcasts as we head into another exciting season, alongside Jason and Dannie."

The crew will broadcast three preseason games locally on Fox 2 Detroit (WJBK) and throughout the Detroit Lions Television Network:

Aug. 8 vs. New York Giants

Aug. 17 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Aug. 24 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
