Campbell provides injury update on Anzalone

Lions veteran linebacker and defensive captain Alex Anzalone left Detroit's 52-6 win over the Jaguars with a forearm injury in the second quarter and did not return.

"Looks like he broke his forearm and will be out six to eight weeks," head coach Dan Campbell said after the game.

That's certainly a big loss for a Detroit defense that is playing so well right now with Anzalone in the center of it all.

He is one of those players who wears a lot of hats and can do so many things for this defense. Since joining the Lions in 2021, he is one-of-six NFL players to total at least 375 tackles, 20 pass defenses, 20 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks and two interceptions.

He had five tackles, including a tackle for loss, against the Jaguars Sunday before suffering the injury when he and Brian Branch collided making a tackle.

Anzalone has 56 tackles, six tackles for loss, a sack and four passes defended this season. A six-to-eight-week prognosis would allow him to return to the lineup at the end of the regular season right in time for a playoff run.
